Synergy
Two distinctly different areas – beachfront and bayfront – offer a complementary development potential. Both properties are intricately landscaped and feature unique characteristics (e.g. elevated views, rainforest, natural port) difficult to match elsewhere in the Peninsula.

Location

Maraú Peninsula is a remote getaway with pristine sandy beaches, a large number of lakes, and frontage to Camamu Bay, the third largest in Brazil. The closest airports are Ilhéus (1.5 hours by car; new international airport being built) and Salvador (6 hours by car). Charter flights are offered. In the past, vechile access was via 4 wheel drive; the recently completed `Green Line` State Tourism Highway is making Maraú Peninsula more accessible. Highway pavement up to the city of Maraú is estimated by late 2012.

Prospects

Considered by many as the next `Búzios` (one of Brazil`s foremost beach getaways), Maraú is developing into a high end beach destination. National magazines have named Maraú beaches as some of the country`s best. The natural beauty and growing fame are attracting a growing number of millionaire homes and boutique hotels such as Kiaroa Resort. A major new development is Grupo Amorim`s Project 21, reportedly the largest beach resort in South America, with international level golf courses and other amenities. Project 21 received environmental approval in Dec ember 2011, and has the potential to be a `game-changer` in the region.

Brazil`s tourism market is being supported by domestic demand, backed by the strong commodity economy which recently by-passed the UK as #6 in the world. As Brazil is hosting the World Cup and Olympics (2014 and 2016, respectively), the consistent appreciation of prices in Maraú Peninsula from the last 10 years is widely expected to continue.

Activities & Sports

Popular activities in the Peninsula and Bay include:

• Ecotourism – huge bromeliads, waterfalls and hiking, mangroves with diverse wildlife. Excellent birdwatching.

• Coral Reefs – protected waters for snorkeling, long unspoiled beaches.

• Freshwater Lagoons – fantastic kayaking and swimming in natural rain/ spring fed lagoons.

• Sailing – all weather anchorages, consistent breezes, and numerous islands to explore.
